STAR Early Literacy is a perfect assessment for RTI, and the only one you need for screening and progress monitoring emergent readers in grades Pre-K–3. It also provides diagnostic data to make instructional decisions and to help identify gaps in knowledge for students experiencing reading difficulties.
RTI is a way to organize time and resources to deliver extra help to kids who need it most. The RTI Screening Report—complete with built-in benchmarks and cut scores—was created with significant input from leading RTI experts, and was designed to provide information about which students are responding well to Tier 1 (core) instruction and which need to be considered for intervention.

Using computer-based assessment technology is the only efficient way to accomplish frequent progress monitoring—the STAR assessments automate goal setting and progress monitoring while most other assessments require you to calculate by hand.
STAR Early Literacy can be used weekly for progress monitoring. Created with significant input from leading RTI experts, the STAR Early Literacy goal-setting wizard allows you to select an appropriate goal for each student and the Student Progress Monitoring Report graphs students' progress toward goals.

Results from a STAR Early Literacy assessment provide diagnostic information for 41 early literacy skills. The Student or Class Diagnostic Reports list the specific skills each student is lacking, data that can be used for instructional planning and intervention decisions for struggling readers. |
Our Professional Development services help translate screening, progress-monitoring, and diagnostic data into a plan to best serve all of your students.
