Read Now Power Up! uses research-verified teaching strategies to dramatically increase comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and decoding skills; elevate instructional reading levels; and improve student achievement on standardized assessments.
In this quasi-experimental study, 238 students in grades 6–8 at schools in Alabama, California, Georgia, and Nevada taking part in the Read Now intervention and an equivalent control group were pre- and posttested using STAR Reading. Results showed that students using Read Now gained 3.23 normal curve equivalents (NCEs) and experienced greater improvement in attitudes toward reading, whereas the control group experienced a decrease of 1.51 NCEs.
