 Read Now Power Up!
Helps Texas Students Succeed

Poolville Junior High School in Poolville, Texas is a rural, Schoolwide Title I school where 48% of students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. After implementing Read Now Power Up! for less than 5 months, teachers at this school have seen 21 struggling readers make substantial gains in reading achievement. The students’ STAR Reading1 grade equivalent (GE)2 scores grew from 4.7 GEs in the fall to 5.6 GEs in the spring, for a gain of 0.9 GEs. Expected growth during this timeframe is approximately 0.5 GEs. The educators also report seeing improvement in students’ reading confidence, organizational skills, and attendance.
