Read Now Power Up! fits perfectly into a Response to Intervention (RTI) framework because it provides the personalized practice and progress monitoring students and educators need to benefit from the key ideals of RTI:
- Evidence-based programs to support high-quality instruction
- Targeted interventions to help struggling students catch up to their peers
- Progress monitoring information to drive data-driven decision making
- Support—including family involvement—to make sure every student experiences success

With this planned intervention for students struggling with reading comprehension and fluency, teachers employ a combination of explicit instruction; advanced daily progress-monitoring assessments; motivating Web activities; and high-interest, fiction and nonfiction, thematically linked paperback books. Students are placed into one of four levels in the program based on individual reading ability. Instruction and activities centered on leveled paperback books and small-group activities help teachers continuously monitor student progress. Web- and workbook-based activities allow students to work at their own pace—both those needing additional practice and those able to move ahead more quickly. Daily progress-monitoring assessments in comprehension and literacy skills development, and guided independent reading practice help teachers closely follow individual students’ progress and implement further interventions as needed.
