As with any endeavor, performance improves with practice. Accelerated Reader™ helps teachers manage
and monitor your child’s independent reading practice. Your child picks a book at his/her own level and reads
it at his/her own pace. When finished, your child takes a short quiz on the computer. Passing the quiz is an
indication that your child understood what was read. AR™ gives both children and teachers feedback based
on the quiz results, which the teacher then uses to help your child set goals and direct ongoing reading
practice.

The Importance of Reading Logs
Reading logs allow you to see at a glance how your child is spending their time. A log is also motivational by making their reading visual and helps them see how much they have accomplished.
