R. James Milgram, Ph.D., is a professor of mathematics at Stanford University. His work in mathematics education includes consulting with several states on math standards, including California. Milgram has given lectures around the world and is a member of numerous boards and committees, including the National Board of Education Sciences, created by the Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002 "to advise and consult with the Director of the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) on agency policies," and the Human Capital Committee of the NASA Advisory Council, which "provides the NASA Administrator with counsel and advice on programs and issues of importance to the Agency."
