How AR helped prepare a professional football player to be on top of his game
Jermichael Finley, Green Bay tight end, used Accelerated Reader as an elementary student in Diboll, Texas. Today at 24, he's tearing up the field with a promising professional football career.
Jermichael feels AR has had a big influence on him—one that has carried over to helping him do his best on the football field today.
"Accelerated Reader was huge at my school. I was one of those kids that didn't like reading, but meeting goals through Accelerated Reader really helped me. It helped me learn to pay attention to the details. In order to do well with AR, you have to read the whole book to ensure you're ready to take that quiz—it's the same with football: you have to approach every play to make sure you're ready to execute right on the field on Sundays."
Jermichael knows the importance of reading at a young age—he reads to his three-year-old son Kaydon every chance he gets. "If I were to go back and be a kid again, I would get on reading way tougher than I did—I would take better advantage of that reading practice. It's that important."
