Panel of Experts

Richard BiskRichard Bisk, Ph.D. is chair and professor of mathematics at Worcester State College in Massachusetts, where he teaches mathematical modeling, linear algebra, number theory, and mathematics for elementary teachers. He has worked with K–12 teachers and students for 15 years and has taught and developed numerous professional development courses that focus on improving teacher understanding of mathematics, including the Singapore Math Project which was developed in conjunction with the Massachusetts Department of Education. Bisk also presented testimony before the National Math Panel in September 2006 regarding the need to improve preservice elementary teacher knowledge of the mathematics they teach. And he assisted in the development of Massachusetts’s new guidelines for the mathematical preparation of elementary teachers.
