What Is Response to Intervention?

Response to Intervention (RTI) has many definitions. Fundamentally, however, it is a framework for making instructional decisions based on data, in order to accelerate learning for all students.

Kurns, S., & Tilly, W. D., III. (2008, May). Response to intervention blueprints for implementation: School building level. Alexandria, VA: National Association of State Directors of Special Education, Inc.

RTI can be a lot of extra work for teachers and very expensive, or it can be a powerful, cost-effective way to help teachers instruct, intervene, and succeed. The difference is in the tools selected, and how they’re put to use.

For more than 20 years, Renaissance Learning has been helping educators use technology to generate data for instructional decisions. With significant input from top RTI researchers, we have taken our computer-based assessments to the next level and automated key RTI tasks. Renaissance Learning is committed to heping you make RTI the success it ought to be.
